Coros Vertix 2 – GPS watch for wingfoiling
We have added the Coros Vertix 2 to our product listing specifically because of their close co-operation with the gps-speedsurfing community.
As a result of this co-operation, the Coros Vertix is one of only a few GPS watches that are recognized/accepted by www.gps-speedsurfing.com for “official” records in their community. Other devices can and do still list their sessions, but they are not accepted as being “official” and this is simply due to the fact that the GPS speed accuracy of the Vertix range has been verified by the gps-speedsurfing technical team.
Of course there ae a myriad of other features and functions in this gem, including a regular “windsurfing” session tracker but our single-minded attraction is the acceptance of the speed data.
As wingfoil racing develops and expands internationally and locally, we believe that this is going to be a brilliant tool to bring the speed game to wingfoiling.
Synopses from www.gps-speedsurfing.com and Coros follows below;
COROS and GPS-Speedsurfing.com(GP3S) have been working together to develop a tailor made workout mode that enable instant feedback on the water for all our major categories. The current release of this native speedsurfing mode is available for all COROS VERTIX owners, and will bring a very high level of accuracy combined with a rock-solid hardware design, amazing battery life and a convenient easy-to-use user interface including fully auto-uploading to our platform. We will continue to collect data and improve the speed algorithms together with COROS. Based on the progress we have made so far, supported by hundreds of test miles on the water, we are convinced this combination is a future proof, trustable, accurate & verifiability solution that we want for our platform.
Both the COROS APEX PRO and VERTIX are the first multi-sport watches suitable to support a native speedsurfing-mode , a large number of (extreme) outdoor/indoor activities and add additional functionality like HR and blood oxygen monitoring. COROS is a high performance sports technology company with a focus on outdoors and extreme sports. Combining high grade hardware and the latest innovative technology it’s providing athletes the gear they can rely on in the world’s most extreme environments. At GP3S we are extremely happy about this cooperation, the first time ever an industry leading manufacturer stepped into the world of speedsurfing and joined forces with our community !
In the future we will continue to share updates about our progress, we will give additional background information about the devices, software and the way the GPS data is collected , processed & verified by our platform.
